How many times have you looked at someone who is in active addictions and say they could quit if they wanted to? All to often we are quick to judge these people. We look right past the person and see the disease. Then you have people you say addiction is a choice and NOT a disease. When in actuality it is. It is a mental disease that effects everyone in some way or the other. Is the heroin addict any different than the Starbucks addict? So let's look at the statistics. There are 100 million coffee drinkers in the US alone. While world wide 13.2 million people use some type of opioid with 9.2 million of those using heroin. So 30% of the US population are coffee drinkers while >1%(.12) of the world population are using heroin. Although coffee does not have the power to kill with the slip of a needle. Now that Addiction has been put into perspective. There is help for the heroin addict or what ever mind altering drug they are using. Before you judge the addict with a needle look at the cup of coffee in your hand. Pray for them, love them, do not enable them or judge them that is not your job.
